HONEY BEES

BEES
OUR HONEY BEE SOLUTION
We try to save honey bees if at all possible. They have some issues with mites killing off many of their colonies recently. Swarmers are fairly simple to save. On the other hand once they have found their way into a wall or ceiling, we will need to destroy the colony. There is little more that can be done. There are upwards of 30,000 bees in a colony. They can create 50-100lbs of honey per year in the wall voids.  We use a smoke injection and dust application method. Some drilling is required. The entry points should be sealed by a carpenter 2 weeks later.

Car jackers worst nightmare
This swarm of 2000 bees was found hanging over a nice new truck at a local auto dealership. The bees were doing a great job in preventing the sale of a new Ford Ranger. Our man Jake is seen here holding the swarm, the bee swarm was resting on a tree branch. the swarm was removed and safely taken to there new home. They were transported by simply wiring the branch to the rear view mirror and heading on down the highway. We like to think of them as a weapon against crime!

Honey Trivia
• Honeybees must tap over two million flowers to make one pound of honey, flying a distance equal to more than three times around the world.
• The average worker bee will make only one-twelfth of a teaspoon of honey during its lifetime.
